Job Summary

Direct all operational and administrative functions of the University Police Department.

Serve as the Chief Executive and Administrative Officer for the Department of University Police at the UWF. Responsible for the overall direction and operations of a 24-hour University Police Department.

Basic budget management knowledge. Working knowledge of police and security practices. Knowledge of personnel management principles. Training skills. Strong understanding of Clery, Title IX, VAWA, and SANEActs. Possession of a high level of professionalism, personal integrity, and commitment to the mission of the institution is also required. Responsible for maintaining the accreditation standards as set forth by either the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc. (CFLEA) or the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA).

Experience in leading during a crisis.

Experience in either city/county policing and/or university policing, specifically in a complex, diverse campus community.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of appropriate experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of appropriate experience. Florida Police Certification (per Section 943.13, Florida Statutes) or obtained within six months from hire. Valid Florida’s Driver’s License CDL –Class E.
