Under general supervision, the Operations Supervisor of Street Maintenance provides direct supervision and oversees the daily activities of employees assigned to street maintenance related activities and operates a comprehensive street and sidewalk infrastructure maintenance program.
 Principal Duties:
  1. Supervise and coordinate work crews performing both skilled and unskilled work for street and sidewalk maintenance operations including right of way finish mowing and irrigation systems maintenance and perform inspections to assure that adherence to all policies, procedures and plan schedules have been met.
  2. Implement operational activities to meet goals in the division annual work plan, yearly street inventory, annual segment of the 5 year street maintenance plan, street sweeping procedures and the bridge maintenance plan.
  3. Supervise, direct and evaluate assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining and completing employee performance appraisals. Maintain time sheets, vacation and sick leave records for assigned employees. Assure division is in compliance with city personnel policies and procedures.
  4. Inspect divisional equipment to ensure scheduled maintenance and operating procedures are followed, reporting malfunctions to appropriate fleet service supervisor.
  5. Operate the work order system that tracks efficiency, effectiveness and cost of maintenance projects. Prepare or complete various forms, schedules, work orders, work estimates, maintenance reports, or other documents.
  6. Review and investigate all accidents and personnel injuries and ensure that all forms are completed and all injuries are documented in compliance with risk management policies and procedures.
  7. Communicate with supervisor, co-workers, employees, other divisions, vendors, customers, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, resolve problems.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.
 Qualifications:

Required: 

High School Diploma or GED, and two (2) years previous experience and/or training related to street maintenance, including one (1) year supervisory experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.  Experience performing maintenance and repairs on flexible and rigid pavement.  Knowledge of roadway construction techniques and required equipment.  Valid CDL class "A" license issued by the State of Texas.  Experience working with personal computers.
