9-1-1 Public Safety Dispatcher

 

ARE YOU???    .... A career minded professional interested in becoming employed in the ever expanding Public Safety sector.  The Hancock County RCC is looking for professional, strong, capable and proficient individuals that want a career in public safety.  Must be in general good health with the ability to learn, read, write and comprehend English for accuracy and detail.

The HCRCC is now accepting applications.  Hancock County offers great pay & benefits including vacation, sick & retirement along with a very cooperative team atmosphere.  Candidates chosen will receive the necessary classroom & on-the-job training to assist in developing those skills needed to perform successfully under emergency situations while interacting with local Law Enforcement, Fire, EMS and/or any other agencies.

Applicant Requirements:

-    US citizen                                                                       -    High school diploma or equivalent

-    Be of unimpeachable character                           -    Ability to utilize computers and radios

      (NO felony convictions or crimes of moral turpitude)

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to (trainings will be made available):

  • Certified 9-1-1 operator
  • Certified Emergency Telecommunicator
  • Certified Emergency Medical Dispatcher
  • Certified Terminal Operator
  • Receiving calls, alarms and radio communications and responding by dispatching appropriate personnel/equipment as necessary
  • Maintaining computer aided dispatch system for call/radio processing
  • Receives public and provides assistance
  • Retrieves information for agencies as necessitated by policy
  • Works with other dispatch agencies with regard to mutual aid requests

  • Pass oral/written exam or job related tests required
  • Pass thorough background investigation
  • Submit copies of diplomas/certificates and other related qualifying documentation
