POSITION AVAILABLE/The City of Fort Oglethorpe is accepting applications and resumes for a Captain of Investigations.  The City is seeking well qualified individuals with a high degree of personal integrity and a desire to serve in a fast-growing community. Salary range of $48,000 to $52,000 depending upon experience.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the supervision of the Criminal Investigation Division and all related investigative functions.  This position is responsible for directing, coordinating, developing and reviewing Criminal Investigation Division operations as well as the discipline, supervision, and evaluation of assigned personnel.  This position performs law enforcement duties responsible for protecting life and property and enforcing laws and ordinances..

Qualifications: Must be a least 21 years of age; completion of high school with diploma or GED equivalent; Bachelor's degree in related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position; current Georgia Post certifications; be a citizen of the United States; possess a valid Georgia driver's license.  Minimun five years relevant supervisory experience and experience sufficient to understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems; minimum of seven years experience in criminal investigator related capacities; minimum of 15 years relevant law enforcement experience; completion of a wide variety of formal training related to criminal investigations and experience with application. 

ackground Investigation:  A thorough personal, work experience, and qualifications background investigation is required.  A review of the driving record; educational accomplishments and a credit record verification are requested prior to employment. 

A physical and drug test is required.
