SUMMARY OF POSITION
The County Administrative Office seeks a results-oriented individual with excellent analytical skills to work in a fast-paced and high-energy organization with great potential for personal development and career advancement. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
The Budget & Analysis Division of the County Administrative Office performs financial and operational analysis to ensure the community’s resources are efficiently and effectively managed. Examples of duties to be performed by the successful candidate include: analyzing, prioritizing, and making recommendations on competing requests for resources; helping to prepare the annual countywide recommended budget; monitoring departmental revenue and expenditure patterns of assigned departments, identifying potential budget variances, and making recommendations to maintain budgetary balance; providing independent analysis of fiscal, operational, and organizational issues affecting the County’s finances; reviewing departmental reports to the Board of Supervisors with the goal of ensuring transparency and responsible public administration; and preparing analytical reports to provide County policy makers with information, perspectives, and recommendations to support informed public policy decision-making; analyze and maintain a current understanding of laws, regulations and proposed legislation relative to County departments and functions; maintain open communication with assigned departments
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will have strong critical thinking skills and the ability to research, analyze, and synthesize data to make sound and independent recommendations on the operational and fiscal affairs of the County. The successful candidate will be organized, dependable, flexible, accurate, and self-directed. They will demonstrate initiative and adaptability to changing circumstances. The ideal candidate will be able to perform financial and various ad hoc analyses and prepare well written reports that concisely communicate analytical findings and recommendations in a manner that is clear, organized, credible, easy to follow, grammatically correct, and persuasive. Finally, they must maintain cooperative and professional working relationships both within and outside the County Administrative Office.
