Duties include participating in warrant investigations, serving warrants, making arrests and performing general law enforcement duties as necessary; participating in the processing and service of subpoenas, writs, corporation and association papers; serving as bailiff; providing court security; and transporting and processing prisoners from other agencies. This position reports to the Chief City Marshal. Must have Active Texas Peace Officer License, meet all current TCOLE standards and possess a valid Texas driver’s license with a good driving record. A high school diploma or equivalent plus some college or vocational training in criminal justice or a related field required. Must have a minimum of one year recent experience as a marshal, warrant officer or patrol officer with a Texas municipal court or police department, or equivalent experience with a Texas Constable or Sheriff's Office; and, must have valid TCOLE Court Security Specialist certification or be able to obtain certification within one year of employment. Hours may include evenings and weekends. A thorough background check will be conducted, including a criminal history check. Must not have any criminal conviction above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor or any Class B misdemeanor within the past 10 years; other convictions may also be considered.
