Description

Under moderate supervision, this position performs computer aided drafting using AutoCAD Architectural Desktop, producing architectural and other types of drawings, and assisting in archival work for the assigned department. Duties include preparation of Architectural Construction Documents for City projects, including coordination of the design work with each of the Engineering Disciplines (Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing, and Electrical), as well as plotting the documents, and putting them together in an electronic format for bidding purposes. -Assists with the computer drafting of plans and prepares Architectural Construction documents. -Performs preliminary studies for future Capital Improvement projects. -Discusses designs with management and takes care of routine design tasks. -Performs fieldwork required for projects in an accurate and timely manner. -Plots all Computer Aided Design (CAD) projects and maintains the plotter equipment and supplies. -Researches state and local codes. -Performs routine calculations required for projects. -Prepares preliminary cost estimates as required. -Briefs managers, architects, and engineers on status of projects and discusses problems with them. -Works with other divisions, departments, and other entities on projects as required. -Works with Contractors, the public, and other entities on job sites, in the office, or over the phone concerning proposed and existing projects. -Prepares as-built drawings for placement on the plans and follows up to insure completed projects are properly documented and recorded. -Works with other departments providing assistance in locating information off maps, old plans and other sources. -Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. Two (2) years CAD experience preferred: preferably in the AutoCad Architectural Desktop work environments OR a degree in a related field is preferred. Must be proficient in computer type design and drafting as related to the architectural/engineering fields. Associates Degree in computer automated drafting is preferred. Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License. Two (2) years CAD experience preferred: preferably in the AutoCad Architectural Desktop work environments. Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. Salary: $34,341.69 annually($16.51.hr)
