Are You a Good Fit?

The ideal candidate must be able to assist in the performance of labor tasks required for the repair and maintenance of facilities. The ideal candidate must maintain a knowledge and appreciation of Sugar Land and its basic safety standards and practices. An understanding of basic tools, equipment and power tools are a must for this candidate. We are looking for a candidate that is able to work independently with minimal supervision.   The perfect candidate will have experience with the maintenance and operational activities involving facility and site systems, i.e., HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and security. Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment is critical for success in the role, as are high levels of accuracy, timeliness and dependability.

What We Need from You as A Facilities Services Technician

As our Facilities Services Technician, you will represent the City of Sugar Land Environmental and Neighborhood Services Department. You will be expected to fix, repair and maintain the City’s Facilities by using a work order system. You will be responsible for working independently to complete any required work assigned for the day. Much of your day will be spent moving around from facility to facility. This position will enhance team building skills and your knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, procurement and painting. It is your priority to deliver excellent customer services to our employees while maintaining the City of Sugar Land’s beautification efforts through our City’s facilities.

The ideal candidate is hard-working, patient and detail oriented.  You listen to your superiors and co-workers. You are diligent and thorough, so your work orders are completed by each deadline. You follow through and are accountable for all actions. Being at work on time is a priority along with following all safety protocols. When an emergency situation arises, you are not easily flustered, but are willing to work hard to help in any way designated by your leadership team.  At the end of the day, you get great satisfaction out of completing a hard-days’ work by making our employee’s experience with our offices and facilities a success! If you can do those things and meet the following requirements, we would be happy to speak with you:

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate required.
  • More than one year of progressively responsible experience with direct repair and maintenance of HVAC, MEP, Roofing, and Security Access Systems.  
  • Municipal government customer service experience preferred, but not required.
  • Valid Texas Driver License
  • EPA Refrigerant Certification required.
  • Electrician Maintenance License preferred.
