Salary: $13.96 per hour (Non-Exempt) Work Period: Hours vary between 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday through Friday during the school year (August – May) Hours vary during the summer. Recruitment Period: Open Until Filled

Education and Experience: Applicant must be at least 16 (sixteen) years of age and have experience working with youths in a recreational atmosphere.

Knowledge: Recreation activities and programs. Youth sports programs.  

Skill: Oral communication.  Interpersonal skills necessary to be courteous to fellow employees and participants while performing duties.

Essential Functions:  Responsible for working in a recreation facility for youths ages five (5) and up.  Organizes sports activities, recreational games, and craft classes. Helps facilitate youth sports activities by running score clock and keeping scorebooks. Periodically works in concession stand during youth sports activities.  Participates in field trips with staff and campers.  Performs general janitorial and maintenance duties.  May work department and center special events when scheduled. Performs other related duties as required. 

Mental and Physical Abilities:  Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.  Ability to lift and carry light (up to 25 lb.) supplies, materials, and equipment frequently.  Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (25-50 lb.) supplies, materials and equipment occasionally.  Work requires continued walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.  Ability to maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance. 

Working Conditions:  Works in a Recreation Center environment; however, time is spent outside exposed to temperature extremes, dirt, dust, noise, etc.

Additional Information:  Selected applicant must pass background investigation, physical examination, and drug screen.
