What’s The Role?

The role of Director of Development leads a mission and customer-driven department while developing and implementing programs and policies consistent with the Board of Mayor and Aldermen's goals, visions, and directions. The Director provides leadership over the Divisions of Planning, Engineering, and Building Safety & Code Enforcement and directs current and long-range planning and engineering activities along with preparing and monitoring each division's budget and expenditures.

Minimum Requirements

Here is what you need to be considered for the position of a Director of Development:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in Public or Business Administration.

  • Master’s degree in Urban Planning from an accredited college or university or a related field strongly desired.

  • Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in community development administration; OR

  • Any equivalent education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

  • Valid Tennessee motor vehicle license.
