SALARY: $47,754.10 Annually

DESCRIPTION:

This highly visible position assists the Economic Development Director in the retention and attraction of high value jobs and investment into Hernando County.  This role manages, coordinates, and implements programs and projects to support that effort.  Manages new projects to from construction to completion; works closely with existing industry for business retention/expansion opportunities and maintains close contact with the local business community on related issues and concerns.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
  • Manage and facilitate meetings of the EPIC Team to expedite large-scale economic development projects from permitting to certificate of occupancy.
  • Conducts business visits and/or surveys with existing primary industries for retention and expansion efforts. Coordinates activities with other departments and agencies as needed.
  • Maintains database of current and target local businesses for outreach as well as related projects and BRE visits and outcomes.
  • Manages a comprehensive inventory of available buildings and sites in the County for economic development purposes.
  • Handles confidential information on behalf of clients and in accordance with state statutes.
  • Manages special project assignments and collaborates with other team members to support overlapping/aligned goals related to business solutions including workforce, education, innovation partnerships, startup assistance, and key business wins.
  • Assists in preparation and maintenance of information pertaining to utilities, taxes, zoning, transportation, community services, financing tools, etc.; responds to requests for information for economic development purposes.
  • Researches and prepares various special studies and reports as requested by the Economic Development Director.  
  • Prepares and presents reports, proposals and other projects to the Board of County Commissioners, and other Boards and Committees.
  • Prepares graphics, charts, tables, promotional materials, etc.
  • Serve on the local boards and committees to represent economic development interests of the county.
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director.
