SUMMARY

Maintains, services and repairs surface and subsurface water drainage systems by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Receives written work orders or verbal instructions from Stormwater Crew Chief, Equipment Operator, or Senior Maintenance Worker.
  2. Performs assigned maintenance, repairs, or improvements of municipal stormwater drainage and conveyance system by cleaning and clearing waterways, repairing and preventing erosion, constructing concrete drainage structures, maintaining and repairing storm drain lines, trimming or removing trees, and vegetation.
  3. Assists with the treatment of waterways for mosquito control. Traps, collects, and transports mosquito samples for testing.
  4. Operates tools and equipment such as, air hammers, concrete saws, tractors, and trucks to maintain and repair the city’s storm drainage system.
  5. Cleans and maintains tools and equipment by replacing worn or damaged parts.
  6. Constructs forms for concrete structures and installs rebar to specifications.
  7. Constructs and repairs surface drains and related structures with materials such as asphalt, cold patch materials, or concrete.
  8. Cleans public areas such as job sites, waterways, and rights-of-way.
  9. Follows City policies and jobsite safety regulations.
  10. Assists other Divisions of the Public Works Department as needed, including standby and emergency call back.
  11. Will perform other assignments and handle special projects as required.
  12. Regular and timely attendance is required as well as the ability to get along with others in a professional and cordial manner.

 

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma / GED. Some related experience and/or training preferred.

  • Valid Texas Driver's License. Ability to obtain a Texas Class B Commercial Driver's License within one (1) year of hire.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Work Zone Traffic Control Certification within one (1) year of hire.
