Competitive compensation package:

 

Annual Salary Range: $77,716.80 - $104,918.88

 

Hourly Pay Rate: $37.36 - $50.44

 

Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

 

In addition to competitive wages, Clackamas County offers an attractive benefits package and incentives for employees in regular status positions.

 

Generous paid time off package, including:

 

• 16 hours of vacation accrued per month

• 8 hours of sick accrued per month

JOB DETAILS AND QUALIFICATIONS

 

Clackamas County Water Environment Services (WES) is seeking a demonstrated leader who creates a collaborative team dynamic to join our team of experienced water leaders. The Wastewater Plant Operations Supervisor is an integral part of WES Operations. If selected for this position, you will be responsible for wastewater plant operations, process control, and some administrative functions for treatment facilities to ensure compliance with state and federal permit discharge requirements. You will be responsible for one large or medium capacity treatment plant and one or more small treatment facilities. Some of the most critical components of this position include overseeing the hiring, development, and performance of plant operations staff, coordinating resources between work units, providing technical assistance, training, and advice, and participating with management and engineering staff in relation to treatment plants, including project management.

Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

 

• A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in wastewater treatment which may include responsibility for wastewater plant operations, process control, and working with machinery and equipment, used in construction, operation, and maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities

• A minimum of three (3) years of lead work experience that may include leading projects, programs or initiatives, or leading the work of others, such as providing daily work direction and/or scheduling, assigning work, checking completed work, and training

• Possession of Wastewater Treatment System Operator Certification, Grade Level III, issued by the State of Oregon Department of Environmental Quality as written in the State of Oregon's OAR 340-049-0030, or its equivalent from another state

• Experience interpreting regulatory compliance standards

• Experience with project management, including overseeing internal projects and/or large scale construction projects, ensuring their completion within the established time frames and budget guidelines

• Experience researching and compiling data or gathering information for reports

• Experience providing excellent customer service to the public as well as to other external and internal stakeholders within various levels of organization

• Driving is required for County business on a regular basis or to accomplish work. Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

 

• Supervisory experience, including assigning work, training staff, preparing and reviewing team or individual performance appraisals, correcting performance deficiencies and recommending corrective actions

• Supervisory experience within a union environment

• Associate's Degree in Wastewater Treatment Technologies or a similar field OR Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology or Engineering

• Possession of Wastewater Treatment System Operator Certification, Grade Level IV, issued by the State of Oregon Department of Environmental Quality as written in the State of Oregon's OAR 340-049-0030

• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office software applications, such as MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook

 

Other Qualifications:

 

Within twelve (12) months of hire:

 

• Possession of Wastewater Treatment System Operator Certification, Grade Level IV, issued by the State of Oregon Department of Environmental Quality as written in the State of Oregon's OAR 340-049-0030

Clackamas Water Environment Services produces clean water and protects water quality for more than 190,000 people living and working in Clackamas County. We operate and maintain five resource recovery facilities, 23 pumping stations and hundreds of miles of pipes. Each year we clean more than seven billion gallons of water which we recover and turn into natural energy and fertilizer. We also help reduce pollution in local rivers, streams, and wetlands caused by surface and stormwater runoff, the number one source of water pollution in Oregon.
