The purpose of this position is to oversee the customer service front desk operations and playroom at the recreation facility. This is accomplished by supervising assigned staff, monitoring revenues and expenditures, supervising work progress performed by staff, and applying financial policies and standard operating procedures for assigned area. This position provides direction to other employees.
Essential Functions
This information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position. The following examples do not identify all duties performed by any single incumbent.
- Supervises personnel by conducting the hiring process including selecting candidates and interviewing for open positions, training staff, promoting and maintaining a positive work environment for optimum staff morale, evaluating staff performance and conducting performance reviews, administering staff meetings, scheduling staff, holding staff accountable for expectations, handling staff concerns and suggestions and administering disciplinary actions as needed.
- Oversees guest services operation of a recreation facility by maintaining the budget for facility programs and personnel, supporting cost recovery goals, reconciling financial transactions and records, processing and approving refunds, monitoring payroll activities, maintaining inventory, and enforcing and developing policies and procedures.
- Ensures positive customer service levels by addressing and resolving complaints from the public, making discretionary decisions regarding customer-related issues, educating and training staff on customer service practices, and holding staff accountable for expected customer service delivery goals.
- Manages front desk operations by assisting members and guests with program registrations and facility bookings, promoting facility amenities, programs, and services, serving as the administrator for the recreation Management software system, and performing special projects as assigned.
- Serves as Manager on Duty.
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- Bachelor’s degree plus four (4) or more years of recreation industry experience, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity; OR
- Associate degree plus eight (8) or more years of recreation industry experience, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity; OR
- High School diploma or equivalent plus twelve (12) or more years of recreation industry experience, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity
