Salary: $16.82/hr. minimum - $24.40/hr. maximum (Depending on qualifications)
GENERAL SUMMARY
Assist the Athletics/Aquatics Supervisor with all aspects of athletic and/or aquatic programming. Supervise, assign, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for providing swimming pool recreation programs; plan, organize and coordinate City sponsored youth and adult leagues; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

SUPERVISION
- General supervision is provided by the Athletics/Aquatics Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct and Rules of Behavior outlined in Chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual.
- Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in city and department attendance policies and procedures.
- Assist with organizing and implementing seasonal athletics programs for various age groups.
- Participate in providing general supervision of municipal athletics programs to include the enforcement of rules and regulations; prepare league schedules; recruit volunteer coaches; participate in the coordination of program staff and contract employees.
- Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for providing pool services such as lifeguarding, maintenance, concession and other related services within the Aquatics Program; maintain personnel records as required.
- Participate in the selection of lifeguard staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures.
- Inspects aquatic facilities to ensure cleanliness, safe conditions and compliance with industry standards; reports maintenance requests; may perform some pool maintenance and cleaning as needed.
- Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; establish schedules and methods for providing swimming pool programs; implement policies and procedures.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- May be required to work extended hours, evenings and weekends.
- Attendance is required at all departmental special events.
- May assume the responsibility of facilities and program operations in the absence of the Athletics Supervisor.
- Monitor athletic facilities to ensure cleanliness, playable and safe conditions; assist in maintenance of various athletic sites; report maintenance requests and work orders.
- Maintain accurate reports of participation, expenses, schedules and supply requests.
- Monitor pool attendance, accident reports, chemical reports and concession sales; order supplies as needed.
- Maintain accurate payroll records for all employees.
- Conduct random safety drills and assure staff compliance with safety rules and regulations; test pool water for chemical compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation Administration or related field.
EXPERIENCE
- Two years of increasingly responsible experience in athletics and/or aquatics programs (preferred)
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Possession of an appropriate Lifeguard Training Certificate from the American Red Cross or another agency of equivalent standing preferred or ability to obtain.
- Possession of Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) Certification and Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatics Facility Operator (AFO) certificate preferred or ability to obtain.
WORK SCHEDULE
- Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; some evenings and weekends required.
