HIRING RANGE:  $2,219.47 - $2,718.94Biweekly
FULL SALARY RANGE:   $2,219.47 - $3,218.40 Biweekly

The purpose of this position is to provide crisis intervention and assistance to citizens who are victims of crime.  This is accomplished by ensuring that the medical, social, and economic needs of individuals are effectively addressed and met and coordinating assigned activities with other agencies to ensure victim's rights are protected.  This position does not provide direction to other employees.

 

Essential Functions

This information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position. The following examples do not identify all duties performed by any single incumbent.
 

  • Assists clients by interviewing clients and significant others and gathering specific information to determine preliminary eligibility for program(s) and make appropriate referral services to ensure that identified socioeconomic needs have been addressed and/or met.
     
  • Accepts referrals from agencies and interviews individuals referred to determine the nature and degree of problem, eligibility for program, and make appropriate referrals.
     
  • Counsels individuals, families and groups by developing a client treatment plan to ensure that individuals receive appropriate services and interventions.  Provides information to crime victims on the criminal justice system in order to prepare them for the process.
     
  • Makes home visits to assess client's needs, conducts follow-up interviews, and maintain contact with clients.
     
  • Obtains and maintains necessary information on individuals receiving assistance to determine continued eligibility for assistance.
     
  • Monitors and evaluates the quality, responsiveness, efficiency and effectiveness of victim assistance program.
     
  • Provide on-site, on-call crisis intervention services 24 hours per day; seven days per week.
     
  • Performs needs assessments in order to identify the needs of the community and recommend solutions.  Provide information to community groups on victim issues and victims' assistance programs.
     
  • Maintain accurate record keeping of files and client contacts, updating referral lists, updating victim databases to track and generate reports, receiving, processing and maintaining Victim Statements, and assisting victims or families of victims in completing required forms and statements.
     
  • Coordinates and trains volunteers who assist with the crime victims' program.

 

 

Job Requirements

Education & Experience
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

  • Master's degree plus one (1) year of relevant work experience; OR 
  • Bachelor’s degree plus three (3) years of relevant work experience

Education must be related to a field such as criminal justice, social work, etc. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered. 


Certification and Other Requirements

  • Valid Texas Drivers License


Overall Physical Strength Demands

  • Sedentary - Exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time.
