Summary

The Aquatic Attendant will be responsible for patron safety, order, and discipline at the assigned location by enforcing rules and regulations, collecting fees, and providing excellent customer service. Prefer applicants to be available for the entire summer season. Work hours include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for program operation.

Essential Duties & Required Qualifications

  • Reliable transportation required
  • Monitor park attractions for safety and relays safe usage information and rules to patrons.
  • Keep accurate counts of the number of pool patrons entering and exiting facility.
  • Track individual transactions by using cash register and point of sale system.
  • Collect admission fees from pool patrons and accurately gives change.
  • Tabulate daily receipts and counts closing money.
  • Complete all necessary forms for daily operation and closing procedures.
  • Ensure that all money and valuables are kept secure.
  • Assist with facility cleanliness, appearance, and reporting maintenance needs.
  • Assist Recreation/Aquatics Coordinator with aquatic events.
  • Supervise and enforce splash park rules.
  • Maintain organized work and records environment.
  • Provide strict but courteous enforcement of all park rules and regulations and report incidents to manager on duty or Recreation/Aquatic Coordinator.
  • Provide good customer service to all park patrons and fellow employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Recreation Attendant must be a minimum of 15 years old

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • CPR/AED Certification is required within the first 30 days of hire  


Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • A minimum of 6 weeks of previous cash handling experience
  • CPR/AED certification prior to hire

  • Knowledge and competency of facility specific emergency procedures.
  • Ability to function effectively under direct supervision and to develop effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to receive direction and to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Exhibit professional work habits including reliability, dependability, creativity, and demonstration of enthusiasm for the job.
  • Must be available to work irregular hours and at various intervals, including weekends, holidays and evening hours.
  • Must be able to work well with people of all ages and dispositions.


Conditions of Employment
The City of Leander will conduct an education and employment verification, local and national criminal history records search on all candidates. 

Physical Demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell.   The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and push, pull, drag up to 50 pounds.   Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

Working Conditions:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
