Job Duties: Engineer II/III - Project Manager for the Coastal Program & Project Management The position may be classified as an Engineer II (63,742.90 to $98,801.50) or Engineer III ($73,790.30 to $114,374.97) depending on qualifications and experience of the selected applicant. The selected candidate will work in the Coastal Engineering Division in the Department of Public Works. The individual will perform a variety of duties of a complex nature related to coastal, dredging and civil engineering projects. The ideal candidate should be knowledgeable in coastal engineering disciplines with demonstrated project management experience in major infrastructure projects, permitting, and construction. Candidates must be adept at working on multiple projects. Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must. Coordination with other City Departments, consultants, contractors, government agencies, and project stakeholders is expected. Representative work duties include but are not limited to:

(Engineer In Training) Certificate and two (2) years of progressive professional experience; OR a Bachelors Degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) approved engineering technology program with possession of a Land Surveyors license and two (2) years of progressive professional experience; OR an Associates Degree in Engineering with six (6) years progressive professional experience plus possession of an E.I.T. Certification, OR a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license from the Virginia Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, Certified Interior Designers and Landscape Architects (APELSCIDLA). Additional Requirements: Preferences: •Project management experience demonstrating the ability to independently manage several mid-sized projects, multiple small projects or a single larger project simultaneously Special Instructions: This position will remain open until filled. VRS Contribution: All full-time employees are required to contribute 5% of annual salary toward their retirement account; in accordance with VRS retirement provisions.
