he City of Portland is seeking experienced, professional candidates for its Assistant Sports Director position to assist in activities at its sports venues.  Under the direction of the Sports Director, the Assistant Sports Director will assist in developing, planning, organizing, and overseeing the venues’ usage to deliver unparalleled quality of life opportunities for Portland’s residents and superior experiences for visitors alike.  

The Assistant Sports Director will be responsible for creating and coordinating adult sports leagues; coordinate weekday, weeknight, and weekend tournaments; coordinate with local sports leagues; manage complex rentals; assist in managing departmental staffing; assist in complex maintenance; and other duties as assigned.  The Assistant Sports Director will serve as the Sports Venues Director in his or her absence.

The minimum educational requirement is a bachelor’s degree in Sports/Athletics Management, Business, Marketing, Construction Management, Public Administration, or a related field; a minimum of two years of experience in a sports management environment is preferred.
