GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK: 

Under administrative direction, the Website Manager will lead VIA’s external customer-facing websites, including content, presentation, and user experience. This individual will also oversee marketing content on digital platforms. Additional responsibilities include the analysis, design, and development of various components of the VIA website to support customer access and to drive engagement. Collaboration with the various business divisions to finalize requirements, develop project plans and work with staff personnel to design new content and respond to content requests within brand guidelines. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

Project manager for all VIA external web properties, with primary emphasis on VIAinfo.net and KeepSaMoving.com, to build new content and ensure existing content is accurate and current.  (Currently content is created and managed on the WordPress platform.) 

Develops various components of the web site such as dynamic web pages, database procedures, forms, search functionalities, and any embedded content from third party providers. 

Develops concise and targeted written content for the web, conceptualizing its presentation and layout to create a world-class, highly intuitive experience for users. 

Maintains web site design and provide creative input on design that is consistent with VIA’s brand, Public Engagement efforts and IT advancements. 

Manages marketing content on digital platforms including on-bus displays, mobile apps, kiosks and others. 

Works regularly and independently with staff from various departments to update or modify Internet content obtaining any assets or content necessary to assure the site meets our customers’ needs. 

Strategically optimizes all content to increase organic search traffic and remain in compliance with accepted usability standards and web content accessibility guidelines. 

Trains users in the effective use of computer systems as they relate to the VIA web content. 

Responsible for adhering to and utilizing the conventions and standards existing within the TI Division. 

Stays informed of new technology and how it could be applied at VIA. 

Makes recommendations to management on possible new applications. 

Supervises team of content and web developers. 

Responsible for the implementation of approved applications. 

Addresses security concerns to protect against hackers and malicious users. 

Serves as a liaison between various groups. 

This job description excludes marginal functions that are incidental to performing the job. Other duties may exist. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

Bachelor’s degree in Web Development, Computer Science, Marketing, Communications or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in digital and website development with particular emphasis on corporate website management and user experience design.  

Applicable experience may be substituted for educational requirements. 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

Must have solid track record of consistently delivering Internet business applications using web and client/server technologies. 

Must have demonstrated ability to design solutions that support business requirements. 

Must have strategic understanding of web user experience design and composition, and audience segmentation. 

Proficiency with content management systems and digital communications software, digital asset management, and analytics software (e.g., Google Analytics). 

Must be proficient in cross browser compatibility standards, testing best practices, and be prepared to provide VIA with recommendations on paid and unpaid resources for cross browser compatibility use-case testing. 

Must be proficient with WordPress, custom post type development, WordPress core template structure and modification standards. 

Experience in web and digital graphic design preferred. 

Must be proficient in troubleshooting and resolving application problems. 

Must be proficient in the use of web tools and programming languages related to web development. 

Must be able to effectively work with division personnel in establishing deadlines in web projects under general supervision. 

Must be able to work effectively with user departments and IT development staff. 

Must have the ability to work effectively in a team environment. 

Must be able to successfully interact with users at all levels of the organization. 

Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. 

Must have mental and visual ability to read complex materials such as reports, instructions, and manuals. 

Must be able to maintain good work attendance.
