HIRING RANGE:  $25.00 - $25.36 Hourly
FULL SALARY RANGE:   $25.00 - $30.02 Hourly

The purpose of this position is to ensure a high level of customer service to patrons. This is accomplished by organizing and coordinating memberships, responding to patron inquiries, providing customer service to members, assisting with front desk operations, completing new member contracts, and supervising staff.  Other duties may include answering phones, opening and closing the facility, training employees, and interfacing with other City employees and citizens. This position provides direction to other employees. 

 

Essential Functions

This information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position. The following examples do not identify all duties performed by any single incumbent.

  • Supervises personnel by interviewing qualified applicants, coordinating training for department personnel, creating staff schedules, observing and monitoring work tasks, evaluating work performance, assisting employees to correct deficiencies, and implementing disciplinary procedures when necessary. 
  • Oversees daily operations of the lifeguard operations by opening and closing the facility, collecting and depositing monies and providing assistance when needed.
  • Provides customer service to facility members, guests and program participants by responding to customer inquiries, addressing concerns/problems, communicating facility rules and procedures and directing customers to appropriate areas.
  • Monitors and schedules in-service training to ensure lifeguard certifications are current.  
  • Maintains daily records and reports relating to chemicals, accidents/incidents, and maintenance requests.

 

Job Requirements

Education & Experience
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus one (1) year of relevant work experience.

Education in a related field such as Parks, Recreation and Tourism, Therapeutic Recreation, Gerontology/Nutrition, Kinesiology, Sports Management or Physical Education is preferred. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.  


Certification and Other Requirements

  • Valid Texas Class C Driver's License
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment
