The Cy-Fair Fire Department is seeking applicants for the position of Director of Marketing and Community Outreach. This position is a responsible for all efforts of marketing, public information, community outreach, and recruiting.

The ideal candidate has five to seven years’ experience as a full-time communications, marketing, or public relations professional with demonstrated success and supervisory experience, great interpersonal skills, the ability to be adaptive and work in a non-traditional work environment, the ability to quickly learn, the ability to work in high pressure and fast paced settings, and the ability to focus stakeholders on the team’s mission, vision, and values. 

Compensation:  $90,000/ Year Salary-Exempt

Schedule:  May include a combination of days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

  1. The work of this classification entails frequent walking, standing, lifting and carrying heavy objects, and the operation of tools and equipment requiring the use of coordinative and manipulative skills.
  3. This position may require working near emergencies in all type of weather extremes.
  4. This position may require long periods of walking, standing, or sitting.

Required Experience and/or Qualifications:

  • Desired Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
    • Knowledge
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
      • Working knowledge of digital design tools (Canva, Visme, Adobe Publisher)
      • Superior ability to write in a journalistic style that is customary for corporate and external publications
      • Must have a firm knowledge of best practices in the use of various marketing platforms and channels, including social, digital, and email marketing
      • Ability to offer sound media relations advice to senior leadership
      • Ability to be adaptive and work in a non-traditional work environment
      • Excellent managerial and organizational abilities
      • Ability to work with management, employees, media, and the larger community 
      • Ability to coordinate efforts of various teams in order to present a coherent message

      • Oversee communications and branding in various online and print platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and industry magazines
      • Oversee the development and maintenance of the department website including methods to deliver message, ease of navigation, and clarity of information; ensures that all content is current and relevant 
      • Provides consistent and timely information to employees through various communications programs
      • Inform and engage stakeholders
      • Must be available to work nights and/or weekends
      • Must be available to be on-call while supporting emergency operations
      • Acts as Department spokesperson and responds to members of the media in a timely manner; composes and distributes press releases as needed.
      • Develops and maintains positive professional relationships with various members of the community and the media.
      • Assists executive leadership in developing presentations, speeches, and other important Department messages. 
      • Responsible for preparation of the department’s annual report 
      • Develops, implements, and adheres to public relation’s budget.
      • Develops polices to enhance the efficiency of the public relation’s department. 
      • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    • Education/Degrees/Experience:
      • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
      • Five to seven years’ experience as a full-time communications, marketing, or public relations professional with demonstrated success and supervisory experience
      • Supervisor experience
      • Experience in non-profit membership or marketing
      • Certifications/Licenses:
        • Must possess a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Texas, with an acceptable driving record.
        • Must have a current CPR card from the American Heart Association or the ability to obtain within 30 days
