REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS: The ideal candidate should have: a basic knowledge and understanding of municipal government with an emphasis in land use planning, zoning, codes and ordinances, and other aspects of development; proficiency in oral and written communication; ability to compile, organize and present statistical and other data; proficiency in standard MS Office software; proficiency in using Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam or other PDF editing software; working familiarity with Geographic Information System (GIS) and/or design software. MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION: High school diploma/GED and at least two years’ experience in municipal planning and permit review; Texas Vehicle Operators License; must complete 36 hours of Basic Code Enforcement Office Training and be registered as a Code Enforcement Office or Code Enforcement Officer in Training through the Texas Department of Health or be eligible for such registration within six months of employment. A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Urban or Regional Planning, Urban Design, Urban Geography, GIS, Public Administration, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required. Education may offset experience requirements.
