In this role you will enforce and investigate Federal, State and County Ordinances including but not limited to; property standards, building code, sound ordinance, news rack, zoning code, solid waste, and making the appropriate referrals to other departments. Job Description:

  • Investigate, research, enforce and process complaints regarding the above ordinances and codes
  • Determine legal descriptions and property owners from county records
  • Maintain complaint records and input data into the computer tracking system
  • Utilize contractors for abatement of violations
  • Prepare and testify on cases for hearing before the Special Magistrate
  • Compile case information for public records requests
  • Recover illegal signs from the rights-of-way
  • Participate in cross training sessions with co-workers to address the comprehensive list of codes
  • Participate in FACE and other internal and external training as required
  • Works with citizens, civic associations, and homeowner’s associations to maintain a clean healthful and aesthetically pleasing community:
    • Distributes educational materials
    • Participates in monthly Community Cleanup Events
    • Attend Homeowner Association meetings

 

Work Hours: Regular hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Rotational Saturdays or Sundays, overtime, early morning and late evening inspections, Saturday Community Clean Up.

 

 

About You

Minimum Qualifications:

  •  High School Diploma or its equivalent
  • Three (3) years of field enforcement experience involving interpreting, documenting, reporting, and/or correcting violations of regulatory codes or ordinances
  • Associate degree can substitute for two years of the required experience
  • Valid  Florida Drivers' License is required at time of hire
  • Must obtain FACE (Florida Association of Code Enforcement) certification (one level) within one year of employment

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • FACE certification
  • Sound level meter readings and light meter reading experience

 

Subject to Passing Substance Screening:  This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening.  An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.

Pay: $18.69-$23.50 per hour, based on experience
