Job Description Summary

This position is responsible for the accounting and security of all property found, recovered,
confiscated or turned in to the police department for property and evidence. For the duties as a
Crime Scene Forensic Technician, this position will be responsible for responding to crime
scenes to locate, preserve, collect and analyze evidence to support the criminal investigation
unit with criminal offenses and death scenes. The position will require knowledge on conducting
crime scene searches, processing evidence, maintaining chain of custody and completing
reports on the findings. This position will work closely with detectives and be responsible for
testifying in court in regard to the evidence. This position encompasses both property and
evidence as well as crime scene technician responsibilities.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associates Degree in Forensic Science or related field, accompanied by 2 years of field
experience, or;
- Bachelor’s Degree in Forensic Science from an accredited university. 2 years of field
experience is preferred but not required, or;
- 4 years of Experience accompanied by Certificates of Completion in certified programs
for Forensic Investigations.
- Possess a valid Driver's License
- Available for on-call work schedule assignments that require working nights, weekends,
holidays, and overtime as necessary, required.
- Will need to obtain Forensic Investigator Certifications within 2 years of hiring as
prescribed by the department
- Prior experience in property and evidence management and control is preferred

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
- Class “C” Texas Drivers License with good driving record.
- Will need to obtain a basic certification in property and evidence within 2 years of hiring

Rate of Pay: Up to - $57,898.22 D.O.E.
