The Probation Department is currently hiring for a DEPUTY PROBATION OFFICER

$20,000 lateral incentive bonus $15,000 relocation allowance $2,500 signing bonus for all DPOs
** July 2024 - 5.25% increase to base pay (2.75% Across-the-Board + 2.5% Market Inc.)
** July 2025 - 5.25% increase to base pay (2.75% Across-the-Board + 2.5% Market Inc.)
About the Position Deputy Probation Officers act as change agents, balancing support, and accountability to perform probation casework, provide preventative and rehabilitative services to adult and juvenile clients that is trauma informed and supports family and community engagement in the field and institutional settings while determining a client’s risks, needs, and strengths in an effort to produce sustained reductions in recidivism.

Misdemeanor and/or felony convictions may be disqualifying depending on type, number, severity, and recency. Hiring Process and Timeline Qualified applicants will be invited to the first step of the process to take the written exam. Invitations to take the exam will be determined by the responses you provide on the supplemental application form using an automated evaluation system. If you are successful in the initial screening process and pass the exam, your application will be reviewed individually to confirm that the information you provided is accurate and qualifying.
The first administration of the Written Multiple-Choice Exam will take place on October 21, 2023. Future dates will be announced in November.
Applicants will be notified of time and location of the exam via email ten (10) days prior to the written exam.
Be sure to include your experience in meeting the minimum requirements in both the Work Experience section and the Supplemental Questionnaire section of the Application. Resumes will not be accepted in lieu of the application Work History and/or supplemental questionnaire. If you are not selected, you may have the opportunity to compete for future vacancies.
Qualified candidates will be placed on a six (6) month employment list based on scores received during the evaluation contained on their employment and supplemental applications. Please ensure all information is complete and accurate as the responses you provide on the supplemental application questionnaire will be reviewed using an automated evaluation system.
