The Village of Paw Paw, Michigan (population 3,347) is currently seeking a dedicated leader to serve as their next Village Manager. Located in Southwest Michigan, Paw Paw is half way between Detroit and Chicago. Paw Paw is the County Seat of Van Buren County. The Village is governed by a seven person, non-partisan council.

The Village has 32 full-time employees include a 24/7 Police Department, Department of Public Services and an active Downtown Development Authority. Paw Paw is unique as it provides electricity to the Village residents, along with municipal water and sewer services. 

The Village Manager position will be in charge of overseeing the following funded, infrastructure projects:

  • Waste Water Treatment Plant Improvement Project (underway)
  • 15,000 feet of water main replacement (underway)
  • Partial Briggs Dam Replacement Project (design stages, planned for winter 2024/2025)
  • Maple Island Pedestrian Bridge Replacement (design stages, planned for winter 2024/2025)

The Village Manager shall be the Chief Administrative Officer of the Village, responsible to the Council for the efficient administration of all affairs of the Village and shall exercise professional management supervision of all departments and Village owned property.

The Village of Paw Paw will provide a comprehensive benefits package including a MERS Defined Benefit pension, with a salary range of $89,000 to $103,000 depending on candidate qualifications and experience.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in public administration, business administration or related field with at least five years of progressively responsible administrative and leadership experience in a municipal organization.

Superior verbal and written communication skills, knowledge and experience in management techniques involved in budgeting, personnel administration, public relations, labor relations, grant writing, contract management, project management and working within deadlines.

Ability and desire to play a role in the leadership of the Village, attend and participate in community functions/events, interact professionally with the public and handling difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.
