Required Education and Experience:

  • Graduation from high school or GED; and
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in land surveying and a Bachelor of Science in Geomatics, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Mathematics, or closely related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred knowledge of Trimble total station, data collector and GPS equipment.
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS software.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Carlson Survey Software.
  • Progressively responsible leadership or supervisory experience.


Additional Eligibility Requirements:

  • Current Oregon Professional Land Surveyor license (PLS). If licensed out of state, must have the ability to obtain Oregon Professional Land Surveyor license within six (6) months of hire.
  • Use of computer and other office equipment effectively and efficiently.
  • Understand and apply applicable state and local laws, statutes, ordinances, and regulations pertaining to surveying methods and practices, plats, and legal descriptions.
  • Possession of valid driver's license by date of hire. New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver's license within 30 days (ORS 807.020 (1)).
  • Ability to maintain an acceptable driving record throughout employment.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation to the satisfaction of the City.

Available Schedules: 

  • 8 hours daily, Monday - Friday
  • Opportunity for alternate schedule after the first 90-days:
    • 9-80 (nine-hour workdays with a three-day weekend every other week)
    • 4-10 (four 10-hour days with three days off each week)

 

 

The anticipated hiring range for the City Surveyor position is $41.99 (first step) to $44.09 or $46.29 (second or third step).  Directly related experience and qualifications will be evaluated alongside others who perform work of comparable character as required by Pay Equity Law. Six steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.
