BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Skilled position involving the operation of vehicle equipped with a hydraulic collection mechanism; Completes daily maintenance and checklist; ensures route is completed as instructed; Follows all safety policies. Duties include loading garbage into trucks and assisting in clean-up of vehicle on a daily basis, operating various types of heavy-duty equipment and vehicles, and computer input and customer service.

 

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to service and make minor repairs on equipment and to know safety standards and prevent hazards;
  • Ability to learn Scale transaction computer program and other computer processes
  • Ability to safely drive, back, and operate the heavy equipment on busy City streets paying close attention to other vehicles, pedestrians, team members, parked vehicles, overhead obstructions, tree limbs, etc.
  • Ability to read a map to navigate the streets/routes for the City of Cleburne
  • Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customers
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work with mechanical, chemical, environmental and biological hazards

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school graduate or equivalent and one (1) years related experience; OR

Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Preferred experience in driving large trucks and manual labor

 

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:

A Valid Class B Texas Commercial Driver License with Airbrake endorsement or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record
