Job Description

The Administration Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments is seeking an intern to support departmental and agency-wide projects, strengthening the region’s engagement in the TXSHARE Cooperative Purchasing and Training & Development Institute Programs.

Support includes coordinating with appropriate staff through effective collaboration of assigned projects and programs. Projects may fall within the scope of shared service procurements, project research and/or management, in addition to program specific needs and requirements. Other duties may include producing written correspondence, charts and reports for projects and providing professional support to departments and committees.

Ideal candidates should be able to work up to 20 hours a week while attending school.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of databases, including entering data, for a variety of initiatives
  • Designs/updates public emails, flyers, and social media posts
  • Drafting web site, social media, and publication content
  • Assisting with the development of distribution plans for traditional and online publications.
  • Assisting with evaluation of communications/outreach elements through data tracking and analysis
  • Effectively direct correspondence from regional members via email and phone calls to appropriate channels within the agency. 
  • Serving as a representative of NCTCOG’s goals and mission

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher and Outlook; experience with design software would be preferred. (i.e.: Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented, organized, creative, and possess ability to handle multiple tasks and tight deadlines
  • General Knowledge of survey tools
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment

Experience:

  • Must be attending an accredited college or university during employment. 
  • No experience required.  Pursuit of a degree in communications, planning, public administration, or political science is preferred, but not required No work experience required; at least one year of school-related experience desired

Salary:

Minimum of $15.00 per hour
