The City of Midwest City is accepting applications for Building Housing Code Inspector I or II in the Engineering and Construction Services department. The incumbent coordinates and manages all activities regarding inspections of construction and related matters for compliance with existing codes. Experience required in at least two of the following trades: building, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical. High school graduate or equivalent with two years minimum verifiable experience in inspections and code enforcement required, OR two years continued verifiable experience in plumbing, mechanical, electrical, or building construction work. Must become state licensed in at least one (1) trade under the Oklahoma Inspectors Licensing Act (building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical) within the first year of employment and state licensed in a second (2) trade under the Oklahoma Inspectors Licensing Act within the second (2) year of employment.  Journeyman or Contractor license preferred in specific trades. Possession of an unlimited electrical journeyman or unlimited electrical contractors license, or an unlimited mechanical journeyman or mechanical contractor license, or a plumbing journeyman or plumbing contractor license preferred in specific trades. Must possess valid Oklahoma driver license and be insurable. This position is designated as safety/security sensitive and is subject to pre-employment, reasonable suspicion and random drug and alcohol screening. Starting Salary Range: $22.9267 - $24.2758/hr. w/Benefits. To qualify as a Building Housing Code Inspector II in Grade I - $24.2006 to $25.6246/hr., same as above applies but must have four years continued verifiable experience in plumbing, mechanical, electrical, or building construction work and be state-licensed in four (4) trades under the Oklahoma Inspectors Licensing Act (building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical) prior to obtaining this position.
