Scope of Work:

Performs all routine maintenance work for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center, Martin Luther King, Jr. Park, Doug Russell Pool, and Washington Pool.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Make budget recommendation for new capital, capital replacement, new equipment and replacement equipment and operational supplies including janitorial and aquatic chemicals for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center, Martin Luther King, Jr. Park, Doug Russell Pool, and Washington Pool. Orders and purchases janitorial supplies and aquatic chemicals and equipment for Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center, Martin Luther King, Jr. Park, Doug Russell Pool, and Washington Pool.

 

 Essential Job Duties:
  • Performs routine maintenance of building and park areas, including irrigation equipment.
  • Performs routine pool maintenance including water chemistry, backwashing, preventative maintenance on aquatic mechanical equipment, and maintain daily maintenance logs for aquatic facilities.
  • Sets up for parties and meetings as necessary at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center.
  • Performs light electrical and plumbing duties as required.
  • Works evenings and weekends as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 Physical and Environmental Conditions:

Ability to sit, stand and transport self from building to building. Ability to drive a vehicle to and from various worksites. Employee will work in seasonal temperatures, bending, lifting and moving pieces of equipment in order to complete work or make repairs on equipment. Employee will be exposed to potentially hazardous chemicals while maintaining assigned area.

 

 Required Qualifications:

Employee communicates with outside vendors, contractors, and other employees in the work group and may respond to questions from the general public regarding services of specific projects.

Requires knowledge of all aspects of building maintenance and aquatic facility operation. Requires the knowledge of local and state health code requirements regarding aquatic facilities. Requires the ability to operate, maintain, and repair aquatic operation equipment including filters, motors, and pumps. Requires the ability to operate, maintain, and repair irrigation equipment. Requires skills in the operation of hand tools and maintenance equipment.

High school diploma or equivalent required, bachelors degree preferred. Must be able to obtain either a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification within 3 months of hire. Valid Texas Driver's License required.
