The City of Cape Girardeau, Missouri is actively seeking qualified applicants for the position of City Engineer. Responsible for the operations of the Engineering Division, including supervision of thirteen full-time and up to four part-time employees. Administers, coordinates, reviews and inspects the design and construction of public improvements, participates in capital improvement budget development, prepares and administers division budget and provides technical advice to management concerning all aspects of position responsibilities.
The successful applicant will possess a Bachelor Degree in Engineering and must be a Registered Civil Engineer in the State of Missouri, or able to obtain Missouri registration within six months of start, and have a minimum of three (3) years progressive responsibilities, preferred in public employment.
This is an Exempt position and annual starting salary range is $61,464 - $63,922 depending on qualifications and experience, in addition to the standard City benefit package. The City participates in the Missouri LAGERS (Local Government Employees Retirement system). This benefit, along with the “employee only” medical and dental insurance premium, are paid 100 percent by the City. A range of other voluntary plans are offered for vision and supplemental insurance along with paid vacation time, holiday pay, and accrued paid sick leave benefits.
