Description

Scope of Work:

Assists in the administrative, maintenance, operational duties and other related work as required in the Water Pollution Control Division. Primary responsibility is for scheduling and oversight of the daily operation of the Water Pollution Control Plant. Reports to WPCP Superintendent.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists in the development of the budget and makes recommendations for purchases, capital items and additional employees during the annual budget process. Monitors expenditures during the year.

 Essential Job Duties:
  • Assist with the daily operation of the Water Pollution Control Plant and disposal of wastewater and sludge.
  • Responsible for compliance with City, State, and Federal regulations.
  • Provides input as to operability of modifications and expansions to Plant.
  • Reviews and verifies operator reports and edits for correction.
  • Reads, interprets, and works from blueprints, drawings, sketches, plans, specifications, and mechanical illustrations.
  • Maintains state and federally required logs and written reports of plant operations and duties.
  • Oversees preventive maintenance on plant equipment according to manufacturer's  recommendations.
  • Oversees electrical repairs including wiring of electric motors, switches, panels and control circuits.
  • Prioritizes and plans workdays, projects and maintenance schedules for maintenance personnel.
  • Assist with scheduling operations personnel and fills in if necessary.
  • Assist with the selecting and scheduling training for operations personnel.
  • Assist with preparation and submitting of the annual operations budgets.
  • Coordinates Lab testing and Maintenance activities as they impact plant operations.
  • Assist with ordering and picking up parts, equipment, and maintenance materials.
  • Keeps abreast of professional developments in the field.
  • Keeps aprised of State/Federal regulations and makes recommendations on their impacts to the City.
  • Performs related duties as required.
 Required Qualifications:

Employee communicates with other employees in the work group, other city departments and citizens with information requests and complaints. Works with vendors.

Skill in observing, reading and interpreting written materials. Knowledge of wastewater plant operations. Skill in performing mathematical calculations. Ability to use testing and measuring equipment. Knowledge of treatment processes and objectives. May work rotating shifts and is subject to on-call.

High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree or a minimum of 2 years in a related field preferred. Must hold a valid "A" Wastewater license from the State of Texas. Valid Texas driver's license required.
