Under supervision, this position performs a variety of inspections of building and properties to ensure compliance with City of Amarillo Municipal Code, which may include plumbing, mechanical, electrical, irrigation nuisance complaints, zoning violations, substandard structures, weeds and uncultivated growth, junk and debris, junk vehicles, building code requirements, mobile homes, mobile home and travel trailer parks, and inspection of existing residences for FHA loan program. Answers technical questions both in person and on the phone. Review construction documents for compliance with all applicable codes. No supervision of others. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. A minimum of one (1) year of experience in public relations or high public contact is required. A valid Texas driver's license is required. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred. Must hold current and valid State of Texas Journeyman or Master plumbing license for at least four years. If out of state, must be able to obtain Texas Plumbing license within one year. Must be able to obtain Texas State Plumbing Inspectors License within one year. Must obtain the ICC Residential Plumbing Inspector and International Energy Conservation Code Certifications within one year of employment. Salary: $15.72 hour ($32,706 year)
