This is a SEASONAL snow and ice removal position. 

Position will be ON-CALL except for scheduled training.

Under specified supervision, performs routine and semi-skilled work in snow and ice operations.
Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled internally by advancement from level I to level II and, when filled from the outside, require previous and directly related experience.
Field Maintenance Worker I:
Under immediate supervision, this is the entry-level class in the Field Maintenance series. Incumbents are not required to have directly related work experience. Work is observed and reviewed both during performance and upon completion. Instruction or changes in procedures or exceptions to rules are explained in detail as required.
Field Maintenance Worker II:
Under general supervision, this is the journey-level class in the Field Maintenance series. Incumbents assigned to this class are expected to perform the full range of duties and to work with considerable independence and initiative.

Performs street maintenance and repair.
Breaks and removes pavement; digs, shovels, hauls and loads soils, sand, gravel, and cement; mixes asphalt, and other materials. Paves streets including crack sealing and spreading paving materials. Lays, rakes, rolls and irons hot asphalt and oil spray.
Directs traffic at work sites. Performs flagging, controls traffic and related safety functions at job sites. Interprets basic street maps and blueprints.
Measures and lays out centerlines, crosswalks and other line markings. Operates a paint striper or spray gun in painting line markings on pavement. Paints curbs.
Performs rough carpentry and pipefitting. Assists in building and removing concrete and wood forms; assists in mixing, setting, troweling and finishing concrete, cement and masonry.
Operates vehicles used in construction and maintenance such as mowing tractors, dump trucks, snowplows, tack and pothole trucks.
Operates air compressor and pneumatic air tools, chain saws, bush cutters, jackhammers, tampers, breaking guns, concrete saws, and pressure power washers. Uses hand tools, including wheelbarrows, rakes and rollers. Performs minor, routine maintenance and inspections on equipment.
Patrols and inspects ditch system facilities for damage, leaks, vandalism or other needed repairs.

Performs field maintenance duties in the operation, repair and reconstruction of the City's raw water ditch system. Cleans up debris and litter; performs landscape maintenance; clears debris, brush, trees and tree limbs from ditches, ditch banks, and reservoir areas.
Repairs and maintains head gates, dams and pipelines. Installs and maintains flumes, meters and gauges; constructs new ditches. Records readings from flow charts, clocks, meters, and gauges. Compiles readings into routine operational reports and performs routine mathematical calculations.
Maintains collection equipment garage area, automated container warehouse and outside storage area.
Provides customer service as needed and reports problems to supervisor.
May be assigned to lube, wash, and fuel trash/recycle collection trucks and equipment.
May be required to be on 24-hour on-call status for snow removal and other emergencies.
May be required to operate front-end loader for the purpose of loading materials into a dump truck.
May perform work that requires the use of specified respiratory equipment that guards against exposure to airborne hazards. Complies with all Municipal, State, and Federal physical requirements as per Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) guidelines.
May be required to work overtime.
Performs other duties as assigned.





Field Maintenance Worker II:
High School diploma or GED; one year of progressively responsible experience performing field maintenance duties. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Licensing/Certification Requirements:
Valid Colorado driver's license with a safe driving record. Possession of, a Class "B" CDL.
