Visitor Bureau Customer Service Rep-PT — Part Time — Convention Center & Visitors Bureau

Code:  532 – 1 Position;  Type:  Internal & External;

Hiring Salary: $12.53 - $20.02 per hour

Hours: Various hours as needed; Monday - Saturday; 8:00am - 5:00pm; Not to exceed 19 hours per week.

 

Testing: Office Grammar and Spelling  -  70% passing
Computer Literacy –Basic  -  70% passing
Writing Sample – Customer Service  -  70% passing

PRIMARY DUTY: Under basic supervision, performs customer service functions for tourists and visitors to the Waco Convention Center and Convention & Visitors Bureau (CC/CVB).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge and skills. Factors such as regular attendance at the job are not routinely listed in job descriptions, but are an essential function. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Provides customer services for tourists, visitors and CC/CVB clients, according to City policies and procedures; assists customers, provides information on the City and sells merchandise from the gift shop.

- Supports the relationship between the City of Waco and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information.

- Performs other duties as required or assigned.

- Driving is an essential function of the job.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Knowledge:

City policies and procedures.

- Record keeping, bookkeeping and file maintenance principles.

- Business and personal computers and standard software applications.

Skill in:

 Dealing tactfully and courteously with customers.

- Closely following verbal and written instructions and procedures.

- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers.

- Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required; AND one years’ customer service and bookkeeping experience.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION:

A valid Texas Driver’s License is preferred.
