Description | Job Summary The Public Works Director applies management principles with critical impact on citizens and the organization. Incumbent exercises strategic and visionary thinking having organization-wide application and impact; develops and implements programs critical to the City; and exercises control and supervision of an assigned department and significant resources. Position will usually have responsibility for program outcomes across the Public Works Department. Incumbent may supervise staff including conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training, and implementing hiring, discipline and termination procedures. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Minimum Education, Experience and Certification Bachelor’s Degree and five years of experience related to area of assignment, including three years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Licensed Professional Engineer preferred, but not required. Successful applicant must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and a good driving record prior to hire date. Must obtain applicable NIMS certifications within 12 months of hire date.
