Job Summary:

Responsible for assisting the Chief Building Official and performing plans examination and inspection of construction projects for compliance with adopted building codes include: electrical, plumbing, fire and mechanical codes; as well as, city ordinances and state laws.  The main goal of this position is to protect the health and safety of the community.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Five years directly related experience in building inspection or seven years of experience in general construction or building trades including reading construction plans.
• Must be able to obtain a Texas State Plumbing Inspector License within one year of employment.
• International Code Council certification as Plans Examiner or Combination Inspector (must hold either license or obtain either within one (1) year of employment as a condition of continued employment.
• Valid Texas Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master Electrician and/or Master Plumber is preferred.
• Texas State Plumbing Inspector License preferred.
• Two years of college or technical training in construction, blue print reading, architecture or a related field is desirable.
