City Manager 
Annual salary range: $225,000 to $275,000

Centrally located between San Jose and Oakland in the San Francisco Bay area, Union City is one of the most diverse cities in the state, comprised of many different cultural, racial, ethnic, and religious groups. Eighteen square miles in area, the community offers a variety of housing, with affordable and upscale homes available in many charming neighborhoods for its 72,000 residents. The transit-oriented Station District, located around the Union City BART station, boasts housing and business development opportunities with easy, convenient access to major public transit running throughout the Bay Area. The FY19 budget is $116 million and the city employs 230 full time employees. 

The City Council seeks an experienced and visionary manager, particularly with a background in economic development. The successful candidate will embody the core values of safety, tolerance, and caring, both internal to the organization and as a visible member of the community. The Council desires a manager with a collaborative spirit and a track record for developing positive relationships with agency and community partners, such as the school district. The successful candidate should demonstrate past success in attracting and retaining businesses, particularly with experience in balancing jobs, housing, and transportation needs.
