Description | The Deputy City Manager (DCM) is appointed by the City Manager and serves as a member of the City’s Executive Leadership Team. The specific duties for the Deputy City Manager can be tailored to the background and interests of the selected candidate, but it is anticipated that Utilities (Water/Wastewater), Public Works, Engineering, Parks and Trails, and Sports Recreation Departments will be core areas of responsibility. In addition to the qualifications outlined below, the ideal candidate must demonstrate integrity, be service-oriented and collaborative. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of effective staff management and development, along with a strong background in capital improvements and infrastructure management. He/she will enjoy the challenge of a fast-paced, progressive and team-oriented work environment. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or Board of Directors • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Education • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration or related discipline • Preferred: MBA or Post Graduate Degree Experience • Nine years of related experience and/or training Compensation & Benefits • The City of Hot Springs offers a highly-competitive compensation and benefits package. • The salary range for this position is between $105,000-$115,000 annually, including medical, dental, vision, and group life insurance programs. Paid time off and holiday leave are also given. • The City of Hot Springs participates in the Arkansas Public Employees Retirement System (APERS). |
