Eddy County has an opening for a Mechanic in Eddy County.  This position will become an integral member of the maintenance crew working under the direction of the Maintenance Shop Foreman. Employee will be responsible for maintaining and promoting professionalism; and for inspection, maintenance and repair of all equipment utilized by the Eddy County Road Department, Vector Control, Sign Department, and Environmental Services Department. Responsible for the documentation of inspections and repairs performed; the acquisition of the necessary parts, equipment, and tools to perform assigned tasks, the maintenance of a safe and clean work area.  Responsible for the fabrication of various tools, equipment, parts, and materials, the continuing knowledge of maintenance and repair procedures, and the safe operation of all tools and equipment.  Responsible for daily activity reports and equipment records.  Minimum Requirements:  Must have minimum two years’ experience in the service and maintenance of light, medium, and heavy duty equipment, both gasoline and diesel.  Must be able to read accurately all gauges on tools and equipment and make correct judgments in the operation of equipment, operate welding and oxygen/acetylene equipment, and perform metal and wood fabrication.   Must be able to read and understand maintenance manuals, publications, work orders, blueprints, and schematics.
