DEPARTMENT: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

JOB TITLE:  WEBMASTER

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Oversees the technical management of the County website and intranet system, including integration of approved content, file management, site maintenance, and database management.  Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Installs, configures, and maintains web servers for proper transmission of documents over current Internet protocols.  Determines appropriate compression, resolutions, sizes, color maps, and depths to ensure that images are delivered at sufficiently high speed and quality for intended output media.  Obtains and manages public/private key certificates for secure HTTP transactions.  Researches and makes recommendations for security policies.  Specifies display standards for enterprise-wide Web documents, ensures that all submitted documents meet those standards, and converts all other submitted material to Web documents.  Edits all final submissions for visual congruity and proper coding in common web language.  Presents a consistent visual image through uniform fonts, formatting, icons, images, and layout techniques.  Uploads pages onto the site and integrates multimedia assets and database applications.  Implements and maintains website content within a content management product.  Maintains and coordinates the utilization of content management software and develops/documents content standards.  Trains users, sets up security, reviews and enforce standards with all content.  Coordinates scripting, programming, and overall site design implementation.  Secures programming, graphics, word processing and authoring support as needed.  Programs with common web HTML formatting tools.  Integrates new technologies into web environment.  Maintains cross-platform and cross-browser compatibility.  Researches new web features and tools.  Provides first level support on website/intranet issues.  Programs web-page-to-data access routines using common gateway interface.  Trains personnel in construction of web pages and proper uploading of pages, file transfer, use of web applications, and image acquisition using optical scanners, and imaging tools.  Generates reports as required.  Examines and analyzes site traffic.  Collaborates with other offices and vendors to develop marketing and communication plans that leverage social media.  Develops social media content.  Assists in implementing and monitoring SEO and SEM marketing efforts.  On-call 24/7 for IT support issues.  Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or related field preferred. (High School/GED and four years of relevant professional experience in addition to three years required experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.)  Three years of job related experience.  Experience with HTML, cascading style sheets (CSS), scripting, familiarity with database structure/connectivity, web accessibility standards.  Experience with developing and maintaining complex website content.  Good verbal and written communication and organization skills.  Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials.  Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.  Ability to design, test, code, and execute computer software.  Please attach samples of your past work on the Profile Page of your application, under the resume section in the Transcript/Diploma section.

                     

SALARY RANGE: Professional/Management Grade 13, $ 2,507.20 - $3,553.60 biweekly based on qualifications
