The organization is dedicated to providing high-quality services that positively impact Oak Creek residents, businesses, and visitors.  The City is seeking a candidate that is excited to participate in the advancement of Oak Creek’s Strategic Action Plan while bringing a positive and energized attitude into a collaborative work environment.  The City’s budgets total around $63 million, including a $25 million general fund. The City’s equalized value exceeds $3 billion and has a bond rating of AA2.

Oak Creek’s Zoning Administrator/Planner is one of three full-time Planning professionals with the City and is primarily responsible for the investigation, inspection and enforcement of the zoning code and compliance with all Plan Commission and Common Council conditions of approval.  The Zoning Administrator/Planner also supports the Planner in the review of plans, land divisions and zoning changes, or other items as necessary, and participates as part of the staff development review team. 

The Zoning Administrator/Planner has the primary responsibility for parks planning, including maintaining, administering and adoption of the Park and Open Space Plan and maintaining the recreation trail system and serves as the primary staff liaison to the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Commission.

Ideal Candidates will also have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Planning, Engineering, Geography or Landscape Architecture
  • Experience working in or with a municipal government preferred
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with the public, department directors, staff, administration and elected officials 
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Community Development, Planning or Parks and
  • Have a strong understanding of zoning administration and the ability to provide reference to the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Commission
