Earn college credits while experiencing the excitement of the law enforcement field. Under close supervision, the unpaid intern provides basic clerical support to the Police Department.  The primary focus of this unpaid internship is to assist with the coordination of the Texas Police Chiefs Association (TCPA) Best Practices Recognition Program. The unpaid intern will also learn about other divisions of the Watauga Police Department such as Criminal Investigations Division, Records, Animal Services, Code Enforcement, Traffic and Patrol.  The duration of this unpaid internship can be between 2-3 months in length.  It is recommended that the unpaid intern work 5-10 hours per week to successfully increase their knowledge of police department operations. Hours can be flexible to accommodate the student's formal education program and academic calendar.  This unpaid internship may be available during the Spring, Summer and Fall semesters and is subject to availability.
