Description | KEY POSITION PRIORITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ¨ Develop and institute a formal training plan to ensure new employees learn a prescribed set of skills on a set schedule (30, 60, 90 day or set number of months). ¨ Develop a mission statement for the Wastewater Division.. ¨ Annually set goals for the Division. ¨ Monthly meetings to communicate upcoming work and how it fits with the division’s goals and mission. Communicate work-related matters as well as employee needs. ¨ Work with employees and Human Resources to create development plans. ¨ Create on-going schedule of facility-level duties to be performed daily/weekly/monthly/seasonally and by whom (to eliminate any confusion). ¨ Engage in communication throughout Division. ¨ Create and implement training plans for new employees. Create and implement leadership and workload planning for individuals and the team. ¨ Provide professional advice on issues. Make recommendations to department director to ensure proper and efficient operation of the division. ¨ Develop and maintain qualified staff to ensure division activities and processes are operated at maximum efficiency. ¨ Manage, supervise and direct the activities of assigned staff and functions. ¨ Assures adequate planning for the division to provide proper and efficient operations and comply with government agency regulations. Respond to future growth needs, including goal setting and objective management. ¨ Ensure that all required testing of wastewater influent and effluent are performed successfully. ¨ Communicates plans, policies and procedures to staff and the general public. Respond to inquiries, complaints and requests for information from citizens, employees and other agencies. ¨ Review plans and specifications for contract work and inspects work performed for compliance to standards. ¨ Develop and implement policies, procedures and standards for efficient and effective operation and maintenance of operations. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION High School Diploma or GED; five years of progressively responsible experience in wastewater treatment operations, including two years of supervisory or lead experience. Completion of college-level courses in sanitary, environmental science, civil or chemical engineering preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Colorado Drivers License A or B CDL Drivers License preferred. State of Colorado Class A Wastewater Plant Operator’s license. Possession of or the ability to obtain a State of Colorado Class II Wastewater Collections Certificate within one year of employment.
