Oak Park, Illinois (population 52,000) Exciting opportunity for local government and human resources executives to join the more than 371 person employee team at this progressive community where nationally recognized, architecturally significant historic neighborhoods blend with a thriving business area just nine miles west of downtown Chicago.  The new Director will serve a dynamic 4.5 square mile community which is known for its engaged citizens and progressive outlook who will actively foster and support a racially and culturally diverse workforce through the design and execution of the most impactful human resource strategies. The Director will contribute to the organization by providing strategic and tactical leadership on people strategies, organizational development, building culture, growing leaders, and other Human Resources-specific initiatives including the implementation and use of technology to foster communication and further efficiency. The position reports to the Village Manager and directs the Human Resources department charged with workforce planning and development, recruitment, benefits administration, workers compensation claim management, collective bargaining administration and support.  Exceptional interpersonal skills, strong organizational leadership, independent judgment, project management, labor relations, supervision, leadership, motivational skills and advanced Human Resource functions experience essential.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, industrial psychology, business or public administration or related discipline required. SPHR certification and/or Master’s Degree is desirable.  A combination of education and extensive human resource experience will be considered. 
• Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible human resource management experience required.
• Demonstrated strong executive coaching and supervisory skills.
• Ability to work effectively across teams.
• Strong working knowledge of employee relations, recruitment/staffing, training & development, organizational development, compensation strategy and benefits administration.

Starting salary is $130,000+/- DOQ. The Village provides an excellent benefit package.
