Job Summary

The GIS Manager provides leadership, direction, and support to the GIS Division of the Department of Information Technology.  This position is responsible for the coordination and management of GIS workflow and projets, design and implementation of GIS applications and programs and databases, preparation and mnitoring of the GIS budget, an the supervision and development of GIS team members.  Advises and consults with City departments on the use of GIS programs and applications.  Coordinates training and provides educational opportunities on the GIS related topics for City departments.  The GIS Manager is required to provide excellent customer service, resolve problems in a timely maner, communicate effectively, and be a positive contributor to the IT team.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Geography, Engineerin, Computer Science or related field required.  Additional work experience may be substituted for a degree on year for year basis. 
• Five (5) years progresive professional-level experience in the design, development, implementation and administration of geographic information systems, including project management and oversight; or an equivalent combinatin of education and experience.
• Three (3)years of supervisory experience.
• Must be able to pass FBI criminal background fingerprint check and can comply with state and federal requirements for criminal justice information security standards.
