Description | Transportation Planner/GIS Tech. Summary: The Permian Basin MPO seeks a creative, knowledgeable and achievement-oriented individual to contribute to the growth and success of our regional transportation planning practice in the Permian Basin. The position is immediately available in the Midland,TX location and will involve interacting with transportation stakeholders in Midland, Ector and Martin Counties as well as the cities of Odessa and Midland. The successful candidate will serve as a Transportation Planner/GIS Technician in coordination with Permian Basin MPO principals. Under the supervision of the MPO Director, this person is responsible for numerous aspects of GIS, transportation planning, data collection and data management. This position also includes travel demand ,modeling, statistical analysis, and graphic illustrations. Essential duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Minimum Qualifications: Education, Traning & Experience Guidelines: Bachelor's Degree is preferred from an accredited college or university in Transportation/Urban Planning, Business/Public Administration or a related field AND two (2) years of GIS training or work experience in municipal or other public/private agency work environment is preferred. Physical demands and working environment: Applicants shall also prove the ability to operate a motor vehicle; must posses a valid Texas State Driver's License. Work is performed in a standard office environment with occasional site visits. Employee will sometimes be required to work outside of business hours, which are Monday- Thursday; 8am-7pm with some travel involved, while using their own vehicle.
