SUMMARY: This is a supervisory position within the Community Development Department’s Planning Division and is responsible for managing the following: Preparation of all ordinance amendments to the Land Development Code and Code of Ordinances; Manages the review process and staffing for all development orders and zoning related applications/functions. Prepares and/or coordinates the preparation of all required Comprehensive Plan amendments and updates, and special planning reports; Coordinates the staffing responsibilities for all the Committees or Boards that require planning support; and is responsible for any special projects as assigned by the Community Development Director. This position reports to the Community Development Director.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervises the Planners in the Planning Division. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and Experience:  Bachelor’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or a closely related field, and five (5) years of local government planning experience.
